Friday June 26, Marriage Equality

I never thought a day like today would happen in my lifetime.    I heard the news at work and I broke down in tears that exploded from me.   I was overwhelmed by the idea of something I didn't even know was missing from my life until it was there. I cried because I was no longer a second class citizen and it felt as if I didn't even know I was holding my breathe until I exhaled.  I remember all the things my mom was worried society would refuse me when I came out to her as a teenager. And then there is a day like today.

Procrastination

one thing i absolutely hate about myself is how much I procrastinate when I have an article due.  been like that though almost all my life, even with homework. "mom, please just let me watch happy days then I will do homework."  but then came Laverne and Shirley......

The Sleep Pisser and Led Zepellin

My sophomore year in college 1987/88 one of my roommates, Paul from some suburb of Boston, was a loud, beer drinking Neanderthal who slept-peed (yep, he sleepwalked to the window of our third floor dorm room and peed out the window) - and he played Led Zeppelin on vinyl (DVD's had not yet been invented) all night every night to go to sleep.  On my side of the room was all U2 and our third roommate was all Stevie Nicks.  But I have to tell you as much as we didn't get along (and he had to deal with me coming out and bringing boys over) the one thing I took away from my experience with Paul is that I learned and came to love almost the entire catalogue of Led Zeppelin from hearing it in my sleep for a whole 9 months.

Christopher Lee

Christopher Lee entered my childhood consciousness in Airport 77, playing one half of the troubled marriage between his character and that of the amazing and beautiful Lee Grant. I used to call them the Lee's and thought they were married in real life (ah, to be 8 and impressionable).
Christopher Lee has been working it since 1946 and never stopped. And gave us great performances in some of the most fun genres from Bond to horror to action and sci fi. And some of the best villains ever.
Who could say they held the golden gun, a light saber and a wizard's staff in one lifetime. What a life of play and hard work. Rest easy Prince of Darkness, Istari from Valinor, and Sith Lord!

I will smite thee great Beast, with my Mighty Mjolnir!

Fed UP

Mickey:  I am fed up with being taken advantage of.  I try to be open minded but he either goes out at 3 am or is out all night and shows up in the morning when I am about to leave for work expecting breakfast.  Then sometimes I have food ready and he eats last minute  somewhere else.  And he disappears for days on end and I am pretty sure he's shacking up elsewhere.

Friend:  That sucks.  He's not worth the trouble.  But.... I didn't know you were dating anyone.

Mickey: Oh, I'm not.  I'm talking about my cat.
